Into The Void is New World’s first major update that brings new enemies, a new weapon, and unwanted changes to the endgame content.
After that fiasco concerning gold dupes and exploits, New World’s first major content is finally here and boy is it a doozy. Alongside additional content, the Into The Void update addresses a variety of pain points that players were experiencing with the game since launch. Oh, and there’s also a new weapon. You can say that Into The Void is the most significant update for Amazon Studios’ MMORPG yet. So just what can players expect besides a whole slew of New World items to tink around with?
Say Hello to My Little Friend
The Void Gauntlet has manifested in Aeternum! Arguably the best thing about the “Into The Void’ update is the introduction of the latest New World item, most notably, the magical Void Gauntlet. A weapon that can be used to harm or heal, Amazon Game Studios described it as a “magical damage and support hybrid weapon” that scales off both Focus and Intelligence. The best part? It makes nice lights and colors!
There are many ways to customize the Void Gauntlet. Should you choose to invest skill points into the Annihilation weapon mastery tree, it’ll make the Void Gauntlet a formidable close-range weapon. But if you’d rather use the weapon in a supportive manner, then focusing all of your skill points into the Decay weapon mastery tree is the way to go, making the Void Gauntlet capable of bolstering allies whilst debuffing enemies.
Since the Void Gauntlet is the first weapon to scale on Focus and Intelligence, pairing it with a Life Staff or other magical weapons would make it even stronger. Perfect for group-based combat, it’s the weapon to get if you’re looking to assist your friends and teammates at the expense of your enemies.
Meet the Varangians
There’s a new face in town. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the Varangians, your latest enemy to take down. The Varangians are a force of invading knights that have come to the Southeastern Aeternum to find magical weapons for their boss, Lord Commander Attalus, a Gaul who has a reputation for a twisted sense of humor and brutality. These Varangians come in forms including the Varangian Knight, Varangian Hewer, Varangian Archer, and the Varangian Scout. All of the Varangians and Attalus are vassals to a warlord named Varik “The Hammer” Iznov. Besides their search for the magical artifacts, they’re also looking for the arcane lore left behind the Crimson Sorcerer.
So what’s their goal in all of this? Well, besides securing the magical weapons to further help Lord Commander Attalus in his conquest for world domination, the Varangians simply want to curry their favor with the head honcho. According to the lore, the Varangians are fiercely competitive and will even vie with one another just to get any sort of recognition from Attalus.
Amazon Game Studios has yet to explain why these warriors have arrived, but that’s why you’re here–to ascertain what exactly are they chasing in Aeternum.
Amazon Game Studios Spikes Endgame Difficulty
We all know that New World doesn’t shy away from the grind, especially when we’re talking about farming for better gear at maximum level. However, the Into The Void update made changes to New World’s that made it even worse.
The Into The Void has reportedly made elite enemies much stronger to the point where players need to group up to be able to effectively farm elite POIs. The main reason why they do so despite the increased difficulty is it’s where the higher-level gear has a better drop chance. But with the recent update taking up the difficulty notch even further, players are downright frustrated. Amazon even made the chests in elite zones less rewarding, which is a huge blow for players who have already reached the endgame of New World.
Endgame in New World mainly consists of farming enemies and chests in elite zones in hopes of getting better gear. There’s technically other endgame content like doing Expeditions which is New World’s iteration of dungeons, but they require a lot more effort, leading to a large number of players opting on farming elite zones out in the open. But Amazon isn’t too keen on that idea, hence the changes. That being said though, it seems like some of the changes weren’t intentional such as the elite chest drop rates. Amazon is currently looking into the issue but we have yet to hear when they’ll fix it.
A Mixed Bag
The Into The Void update is a mixed bag for many. On one hand, we got the Void Gauntlet as our latest New World item and additional quests to farm New World gold with. But on the other side of the spectrum, players aren’t impressed with what Amazon has done to the game’s endgame content. New World has been plagued by many issues ever since the in-game economy shut down and gold/item duplications were rampant, and the latest update is yet another example of how New World can be a rewarding yet frustrating experience for its players.
