Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed Review for PlayStation

Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed, by developer Black Forest games and publisher THQ Nordic, is an upgrade to its original release from 2006. It has a substantial graphical upgrade from previous games and is fun to play around with. The game has a fairly short main story with a long list of side missions. Many long dialogues can get boring, but there is a skip button if you get tired of listening to the main character, “Crypto.” The story has a little bit of suspense and a lot of jokes in it. There are some hilarious jokes with a mix of sarcasm and humor. The game is based on the year 1969 and features some resembles real-life events from the time.

There are a lot of things to collect around the map which unlocks new items like artwork and music. There are multiple maps, each representing cities like San Fransisco, London, Japan, and a remote town in Russia. The last map is on a base on the moon, each city is unlocked after finishing the main missions on the current map. The size of each map is very small but has some details to entertain the players. The cities also have a lot of architecture from the real world.

The game’s graphics are designed as cartoonish, it has a wide spectrum of artwork in the first city, which is based in San Fransisco. There are very few different models of NPC characters, which makes the game feel a bit small. Travelling from one end to the other end on the UFO (saucer) take less than a minute, while gliding takes a few mins. You can travel to different cities and the base on the moon using Saucer. Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed is made really beautiful with vibrant colors and detailed artwork.

Playing on the PS5 is a very good experience as Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed has excellent vibration feedback from the controller. It has one of the most amazing haptic responses from all the games I have played up until now. It also has some good soundtracks and in-game music, which goes with the theme and the map. My favorite map of all was the moon base, which is also the final map of the game. The developer made the moon absolutely stunning, and it looks very realistic.

The main reason that Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed appeared very beautiful has to do with the lighting, shadows, and reflections. Playing on PS5 I get access to raytraced like reflections and lighting. Another factor I liked in the game is that you can destroy everything in it, including all the buildings. The damage animation is also life-like. If you bomb the building then it blows down to dust; if you bomb a factory or a nuclear reactor then it bursts into a big explosion, and if you destroy anything on the moon base then the destroyed parts of the building fly out into space due to less gravity. All in all, the game is a definitely one time play for me and I hope that the developer can work more on the map size and story.

I love single player story mode games with beautiful open worlds. Games like Red Dead Redemption, GTA series, Uncharted series, Far Cry series, Assassin's Creed series, etc., are some of the best games I have ever played. I love to play a game that has immersive worlds to explore and interesting story line.
