DreamWorks Dragons: Legends of the Nine Realms Review for Nintendo Switch

When it comes to an animated hit Dreamworks series, “How to train your Dragon,” which is one of the greatest animated movies series for Dreamworks to produce and knowing how the story flows when I saw all 3 movies, a game like DreamWorks Dragons: Legends of the Nine Realms, which is based on the tv series “Dreamworks Dragons: The Nine Realms,” brings the great dragons from the movie series as they set off on an empirical journey from 1,300 years after all the events in The Hidden World, and before the series started. The game allows you to play with the dragons that are in the series like Thunder which is Tom Kullerson’s Dragon who is also the main character of the series but just in voice narration in the game. And other dragons too as they embark to find Thunder’s Family in the hidden world of dragons on a journey to explore.

There were obstacles and triggers that did affect Thunder’s health as he ran across obstacles and triggers during his quest to find his family and the dragons in a cave of a hidden world, which I didn’t realize until I played the game. When I get to the endpoint of this level where the rocky walls start blasting fire to avoid thunder to continue his journey when that happens, I try to avoid the fire as I cross the rocky walls, even though I did make mistakes that got Thunder burned, I succeeded in avoiding the fire and continued his search. But the main enemy of this level appears as it embarks a huge dragon called the Fault Ripper. When the next phase happened, the Fault Ripper probably had an easy defeat when all It did was blasted a fire and jump attack thunder wherever he sees thunder at the last second. After all that is done, I was able to find the other dragons and help Thunder find his family throughout the game.

When the game continued, I played different dragons such as Plowhorn, Wu & Wei, and Feathers as the game continued with different worlds, obstacles, and enemies, plus upgrading your dragons to gain more strength with many attack options when you go against enemies and obstacles.

The game had really amazing settings in both worlds, and I was amazed at how they made these settings look immersed and beautiful, plus the attacks of the character looked really amazing with the animation of the illusions of each of its options of the attacks.

Although I understand that the storyline is a kids’ game, I found the narration to be boring and a little cheesy with the voice narrator, which was annoying, and I found the levels to be really easy to follow and complete. Although I recognize that the game is geared toward children, it seems like each level could have been improved.

In this game of the How to Train Your Dragon series, despite the storyline and the narrative, the 3D platform is the kind of game that keeps you curious to discover new things for a younger audience, thus making it enjoyable for them.
