Executive Assault 2 Preview on Steam

Executive Assault 2 Preview on Steam

Blast off with Executive Assault 2! You’re the CEO of intergalactic business trying to make money off your product as you explore different galaxies. Design your own base for the best tactical advantage and upgrade your fleet through research. Take a ship out on the battlefield and defend your base from other companies. This real time strategy and first person shooter takes interstellar combat to the next level by giving you the power to control your own destiny.

The first Executive Assault released in 2015 from Hesketh Studios Ltd., and had the player as a CEO of a corporation on a planet making product and using armies to defend your wares from other competition. The competition sends out robot armies and space ships armadas to destroy you at all costs. The player gets to switch from a real time strategy approach to first person shooter and defend the homestead while upgrading product refineries and defense systems. It is noteworthy to say that this game has been designed and coded by a single developer and is the sequel to Executive Assault which sold 50,000 copies.

In Executive Assault 2, the developer takes your base into space and gives a new perspective on intergalactic trade. We’ve all heard about it loosely in Star Trek and Star Wars, but Hesketh Studios gives an answer to the “what if” of running a corporation in space. With updated graphics and new, thrilling space battles, this game should please real time space gamers.

This type of game is not normally what I play on a regular basis, but I have to admit the intrigue initiated on reading the premise of the game. As a long time Space Geek, I knew I’d find some sort fascination. Upon my first play, I was disheartened on loosing so quickly as I had not set up the base in a precise manner, but once I found a groove in switching between the base building, researching, and defense features I found success as well. As the game is currently early access, only offering a Skirmish Mode, there is a lot to be desired. There was a lot of waiting on research in the beginning then sudden battles towards the end of each session and it lead to my frustration, but overall when complete I feel this game has a lot of potential! My advice to developers is to add more music in the background. While space is quiet, it was a bit too silent for awesome battles.
