Introduction/Information about game
The game Graveyard Keeper and its DLC, Better Save Soul, by developer Lazy Bear Games and publisher tinyBuild, is a game that, originally released in 2021, released again on PlayStation in April of 2023 this year. This game is a role-playing adventure game where players must manage their graveyard and help the people of a strange new world they have become a part of in hopes to leave and get back to their real home. Originally, I thought this was going to be another simulation or sandbox like game, so I was very happy to be surprised that, while there is that element added, it is not what makes the entire game. After playing Graveyard Keeper – Better Save Soul, I would say this is a very enjoyable game to try out and play.
Gameplay
The gameplay for Graveyard Keeper – Better Save Soul has many elements to it. From building elements to keep the player’s graveyard looking great to adventure elements of helping people with their problems. The game will start the player off with a cutscene of what happens to the main character that gets him sent to the world they will be playing in. Once they enter this new world, they are told that they are the new graveyard keeper and must do his job to help the village, but most importantly the church. The main character will be left with many questions, the most important question being how to get back home, but in order to get those questions answered, he has to do his new job. The player can start moving and interacting with different objects at this point. As the player gets used to his surroundings, the game will deliver the first body for them to make a grave for. In order to actually make the grave, the player must do various different actions beforehand, such as preparing where to dig the grave as well as doing an autopsy on the body. Once the player does this, they will be done with the main tutorial. Afterwards, they are free to explore what this new world has to offer (but they still need to do their grave keeping job). The world has many characters to interact and talk to. Players can even help these characters in exchange for various items. However, the player must always remember, their main goal in doing all of this is to find a way to get back to their real home.
Final thoughts
Overall, I believe Graveyard Keeper – Better Save Soul is a very fun role-playing adventure game to try out and play. This game was a very nice surprise for me to play and I was impressed with how well and fun the game felt when I was playing. If you are the kind of player who enjoys role playing adventure games, as well as the aspect of customizing and building in your worlds, then I recommend playing this game. Players who are interested in playing this game can now get it on PlayStation, as well as Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC.
