Stellar Ghosts Settlers is a Sci Fi Fantasy 3rd person shooter game, by indie developer and publisher PROTOFACTOR, Inc., where you undergo missions as a Settler on an alien planet. You choose from 6 different characters of various races and backgrounds. Use these characters to go through missions and arenas to kill enemies, earn credits, and upgrade your favorite characters. Will you survive in these hostile environments or will you succumb to the hordes of aliens along the way?
Settlers have set up shop on a planet far away from the Corrupt Galactic Government for various reasons, be it because they don’t agree with the corruption, they’re criminal outlaws on the run, or refugees from a plant taken over, many are welcome here. When you start the game you pick a profile and undergo the Bootcamp, which is the tutorial level. Here you will be run through how to play the game as a new recruit. The basic controls are WASD to move around, Space to jump, C to crouch, Shift to Sprint, and E to interact and use objects. Some other controls include T to use the grappling hook, and Q to roll and dodge attacks; it is also worth it to note that you are invulnerable to damage while dodging. Last but not least you use the mouse buttons to aim and shoot your gun. This game will also offer partial controller support so keep that in mind if you would prefer that. Upon starting the Campaign Mode you get to choose your character and then the level select of which only the first one is unlocked. The first level is Pipeline Maintenance where you will be repairing damaged equipment and fighting off alien wildlife. The graphics and sounds are pretty good and well designed, and while the animations of the characters are a little rough around the edges, most of the enemy animations are well done. The enemies and bosses are diverse and unique while still holding onto alien characteristics. Overall this is a fun and simple 3rd person shooter game perfect for those who enjoy alien shooter games.
The only real issues I ran into were the difficulty and the amount of enemies. Even in normal mode the first level is very long and the amount of enemies can get very overwhelming. I had to restart the level a few times because of this. The aiming is a little slow compared to how fast some of the enemies move and it’s easy to get stun locked by a horde because of this. Overall, though, this improves as you get used to the gameplay but can get frustrating early on.
Stellar Ghosts Settlers is a 3rd person action shooter game where you battle creatures on an alien planet. Choose your character and run missions or try your hand in the arena to gain credits and upgrade your characters. Perform maintenance, repair damaged equipment, escort convoys and more in this Sci Fi Fantasy world. See if you have what it takes to survive or if you will be overcome by adversity in the end.
