Asphalt 9: Legends Review for Nintendo Switch

Gameloft’s popular racing series is back and this time on Nintendo Switch. Asphalt 9 was released last year was released October 8th for Nintendo Switch as Asphalt 9: Legends. If you have ever played Asphalt 9 on smartphones, then it is pretty much the same game with the same mechanics. Graphics of the game look stunning because of the particle effects and the visually great terrains and tracks.

Asphalt 9: Legends kicks off with the tutorial mode and pretty much walks you through the career modes with some amazing number of different races and track combination. The amount of car selection is great, but each car has fuel tanks-it is like a limitation that you can use the car only a certain amount of time before the fuel tanks are refilled. Each car has customization options with its engine and other internal parts. It is a same freemium way to get players to buy in-game contents.

To unlock higher grade cars, the players either must grind through events or buy the packs using in-game currency. Each car has grades available from uncommon to epic, as well as a power level. The higher the power level, the faster your cars will be in order to compete in the respective races. Asphalt 9: Legends has some great mechanics such as nitro boost, double boost, or triple boost techniques. In addition, there are takedown mechanisms such as spinning the car to take out the opponents and showing the slow motion camera.

Asphalt 9: Legends has been extremely optimized and runs smoothly enough on the Switch. Gameloft is going to keep providing additional tours to attend for car unlock events. I remember where Asphalt started and how it has gotten so far. The game has been changing over time by adding more cars and the graphics have gone through a great amount of improvements.

Asphalt 9: Legends is overall the same mobile game, relaunched on another mobile console that looks great and runs almost as great. However, it seems lacking because of its freemium format that brings out some limitations while playing the game, as the requirements keep going higher. Asphalt 9: Legends has the biggest career events as well, that could go on for hours. I would give this game 7.5 stars.
