PAX East 2023 had some amazing JRPG’s and one of them we had our hands on was Arcana of Paradise, developed by Tasto Alpha Co. Ltd. and published by Shueisha Games.
Arcana of Paradise is a 2D JRPG that has an interesting Paper Mario like art style, which allows players to select from 20 different characters and card-based combat system, that allows players to strategically use offensive and defensive cards in real time.
Children will have to go down the tower and will need to defeat different enemies on their way, to collect food, and also collect powerful cards to survive the increasing difficulty. Some interesting combat decisions allow the player to time the attack/defense for the right moment to stun the enemies or deal better damage.
Some cards will be randomly turned upside down, which will have some negative effects, but for such cases, there will be upside down cards that will allow players to turn all the cards the other way around. In case you are dealt a bad deck, players are allowed to re-deal the card for a better deck.
Arcana of Paradise is definitely a game to look out for, and JRPG fans will definitely love to try it out.
