Introduction/Information about game
Arcana of Paradise -The Tower-, developed by Tasto Alpha Co. Ltd. and published by Shueisha Games, is a game that was released on April 20th of 2023 this year. This game is a survival rouge adventure game where players can help guide the inhabitants of The Tower to the bottom in hopes of reaching paradise. At first, I originally thought this game was just a survival game, but I was pleasantly surprised to see how adventure style gameplay was implemented as well. After playing this game, I would say it is a very fun game to try out and play, especially if you enjoy adventure games.
Gameplay
The gameplay for Arcana of Paradise -The Tower- starts the player out in the survival aspect of the game. Players are introduced to the children living at The Tower. Their food supply is bread, which they eat every day. Getting bread is completely necessary for surviving. While at the top of The Tower, which is where the children stay when they are not exploring, players can interact with the children and see how they are doing. As the days pass, the children will decide that they are ready to explore The Tower. Once they do, players can have the children in their party to explore lower floors of The Tower. Doing this will give the player supplies, such as more bread, that will help the children of the tower survive. Throughout adventures, the children will encounter different enemies and people that they will have to interact with. For enemies, it involves fighting. Fighting enemies has a unique combat system that involves dealing cards for attacks. Each card has a special action that determines what the player’s party will do. Some cards are simple attacking and defending cards. The sword card is a basic sword attack, while a shield card is a defending action. If the player times the shield card, they can deflect the attack and stun the enemy. These cards are how the player will primarily do attacks. Of course, there are more special cards that can do magic and special effects. Cards such as the hanged-man can switch the player’s cards. This way, if the cards are upside down, the player can use the hanged-man to flip the cards back to normal. These kinds of cards are very helpful when dealing with tougher enemies. With many different kinds of card actions to gain, players can strategize their decks and defeat their enemies.
Final thoughts
Overall, I believe the game Arcana of Paradise -The Tower- is a very fun survival rouge adventure game to try out and play. This game was very fun to play and I was glad how the game combined both survival elements as well as adventure elements. If you are the kind of player who enjoys survival games as well as having an adventure, then I highly recommend this game. Players who are interested can get this game on Steam as well as Nintendo Switch.
