Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 Review for Steam

Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1 + 2 finally released on Steam, developed by Vicarious Vision and Iron Galaxy Studios and published by Activision. The game has been remastered ground up with some amazing graphics and new soundtracks added, bringing back a lot of old childhood memories for players who have enjoyed the original, which also attracts a lot of new players.

The graphics are all amazing that are definitely on par with current generation, and brings the newness to the game, that will definitely works well with the current graphics setups, including the Steam Deck, we tried the game on Steam Deck as well and were surprised how well it was running at 60 FPS except for a few level which were more vast than other levels.

The controls are similar to the original game but more fluid with all the original animations remade which provides an amazing. Though on Steam Deck, the combos definitely give players a run for their money as it gets tough to pull some amazing tricks. Not sure if it’s on me or the game itself. But I think I had a much easier time on my PC.

All the customization that the game provides is still amazing on many levels from the character customization to the skateboard as well. It’s just pure fun to keep completing challenges and replaying the levels to complete all the objectives. No matter how many times you play it, the game never gets old.

The remaster of the old classic is definitely something on another level which compared to some new adventure sports game stands on its own, and also it does justice to Tony Hawks Pro Skater, and on top for players preferring to play on Steam platform finally get to enjoy this which now can be played on the handheld mode thanks to addition of Steam Deck which brings portability for bunch of players around the world.

Compared to open world adventure games, Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1+2 focused on level based architecture still brings that old fun, and I think industry should definitely learn from this, even though focused on a single adventure sport it gives enough replayability to the players.

Overall, Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1 + 2 proves it is the OG classic and can survive through generation leap. This also proves that not everything needs to be an open world. I would rate this game a solid 9 out 10 stars.
