Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II Review for PlayStation 5

Activision and Infinity Ward are back with another Call of Duty but this time, they are bringing the sequel to the beloved Modern Warfare series Reboot from 2019, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.

Modern Warfare II Single Player Campaign is amazing and brings something fresh to the Call of Duty games after 2019. Modern Warfare II continues the reboot story from 2019, and re-introduces some of the old faces like Captain Price, Gaz, Agent Laswell. And, some of the most popular characters are reintroduced – Ghost and Soap as well as some new characters that help give motivation to the story.

The story brings some amazing Stealth Sniping missions, rescue missions, and also introduces a new Survival mission, which is very similar to some of the survival games. Stealth sniping missions still provide the same tension as previous games, but new and unique gadgets are definitely fun to try out.

As for the survival part where the player is stranded on the streets of Mexican city filled with the enemy personnel and has to survive including the injury and no weapon, brings a uniqueness to the mission, which normally starts with the full arsenal of weapons. The survival mission allows players to work stealthily and strategically by grabbing any available items to be grabbed and create traps and mines. On top of that, they have provided a very specific achievement/trophy, which asks players to complete the level without firing any kind of gun.

Overall, the story and mission are very interesting and bring a certain depth to the story, which was missing from some previous installments. Modern Warfare II is definitely going to bring a lot of players who like to enjoy stories back into the series.

As for the multiplayer counterpart of Modern Warfare II, we had our reviewer, Nick Navarro, provide a review and here are his thoughts:

“Having reviewed my first Call of Duty title last year with “Vanguard” (check it out HERE), it’s safe to say Modern Warfare II is the vastly superior title. Infinity Ward does seem to be the developers that always release the best titles in their 3-year turnaround. While it is indeed good, there isn’t much here that’s groundbreaking, or elevated the already solid gameplay. The campaign is pretty fun and engaging (minus the dumb abrupt ending) and the multiplayer is exactly what you would expect, no more or less. If you’re a fan of the franchise, then moving to this new title will be a welcome but also at the same time a by-the-book transition.”

Overall, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II brings some amazing story and sets up the next act in the series for Single Player Campaign of the game, but Multiplayer, though great, doesn’t bring anything new to the table.

I would rate this game a solid 8/10 overall.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is available worldwide on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC in a fully optimized experience for Battle.net, Blizzard Entertainment’s online gaming service, and Steam. Gaming since I was given an original Nintendo as a kid. I love great storytelling and unique ingenuity. When both collide in a single game, I'm a happy gamer. Twitter/IG @NickNavarro87
